Sexual and reproductive health is a broad field, integrating social, psychosocial and somatic aspects of sexuality, childbirth and parenting. It is essential that Karolinska Institutet (KI) maintains an advanced academic level in this profile area, where the midwife has a central role. KI runs the largest midwifery educational program in Sweden and a range of research projects in the field of sexual and reproductive health.
This position is part of a central strategic initiative to improve the conditions for a strong, close and mutually enriching integration of education and research at different levels. The appointee is expected to take responsibility for leading the development of educational activities to ensure a research integrated education of high quality. The position entails responsibility for education on bachelor-, master- and doctoral levels. The applicant should be running research projects in the field of sexual and reproductive health. The Professorship may be combined with clinical duty.
To be eligible for employment as Professor the applicant must have demonstrated both research- and teaching expertise, as well as management-, development- and collaborative skills and clinical expertise (See the instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet).
The applicant shall also have completed courses of 10 weeks of higher education training in teaching (or have equivalent competence) in accordance with the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions recommendations for qualification as a higher education teacher.
The applicant must hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery and have ample experience of leadership at a high academic level, documented skills in pedagogy and leadership as well as good research merits. The applicant shall also be able to demonstrate documented experience of obtaining research funding in competition.
The Professorship has focus on education and research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: research expertise (2), educational expertise (3), leadership-, development- and collaboration expertise (2) and clinical expertise (1).
Clinical- expertise and experience is highly meriting since it provides a greater possibility for interaction regarding e.g integrated learning (VIL) and clinical placement (VFU). Skills in both qualitative and quantitative research methods are desirable as well as experience from international or trans cultural research and education.
After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the candidates, KI will judge which of the candidates that have the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
