The breast cancer research group currently comprises 3 senior and 4 junior researchers as well as 6 PhD students. Several large case-control and cohort cancer populations are available with collected biological samples (blood, tumor) and complete information about clinical characteristics and disease progression. The research is performed in an interdisciplinary setting with strong collaboration with clinical departments and other national and international research groups.
Our research aims at acquiring a comprehensive picture of breast cancer risk and prognosis. There are a vast number of auxiliary projects ongoing. We are studying a wide range of blood-bound molecular markers using multi-omics approaches and assessing the impact of these markers on the risk of aggressive breast cancer. Other project we are working on are genomics of interval breast cancers, the mammographic density and texture associated with breast cancer subtype, inherited variance for breast cancer prognosis, identification of breast-tumor specific markers for disease progression.
Applicants should have a PhD degree in genetic and/or molecular epidemiology. The applicant should be skilled in advanced multivariate statistical analysis and have ample experience with publishing English research articles. Applicant should have experience in omics approaches, genome wide association studies and/or bioinformatics analysis of genetic data. Interest in breast cancer research is a prerequisite and basic knowledge of this research field is an advantage.
