The position will be placed in the Cancer proteomics Mass spectrometry research group headed by Professor Janne Lehtiö at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab). Karolinska Institutet is one of the four founding universities for SciLifeLab which is today national infrastructure and research center in technology driven life sciences. Lehtiö group is a translational group of scientists with a drive to improve human proteome analysis by developing new methods that can be applied to improve personalized cancer treatment. At present we seek to strengthen our research group with an outstanding scientist with proven expertise in interpretation and integration of cancer omics data and in generating value in both research and in translational settings. Your mission

We are looking for an outstanding translational researcher in cancer omics data with a solid understanding of tumor biology and biomarkers driven therapeutic strategies. In addition to maintaining an independent research track, the researcher should interpret and integrate tumor profiling from different technologies (including genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics) with the aim to generate novel knowledge about the tumor biology and associate the findings with emerging anti-cancer therapies. The researcher is also expected to develop tools to facilitate the translation of the work into new clinical initiatives.

Tasks for the position:

  • Manage projects and serve as an expert in omics data interpretation
  • Maintain an independent and internationally competitive research program
  • Apply for external funding - both national and international
  • Actively participate in academic, industry and health care collaborations involving omics -based methods to improve cancer therapy
  • Development of tools to support clinical initiatives

Your profile

A person is eligible to be appointed Senior Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor.

Qualifications

  • PhD in biology, medicine, bioinformatics or other related relevant field
  • Several years of postdoctoral experience in analyses of large-scale omics cancer data
  • Extensive knowledge of cancer biology and translational cancer research.
  • Expertise in biomarkers-driven cancer therapies
  • Expertise in developing methods to support translational actions
  • Experience of collaboration between different disciplines, including clinical oncology.
  • Experience of implementation research
  • A proven academic track record, including high-impact and highly cited publications
  • Good knowledge in English, oral and written
  • Since the position involves close intercation with several researchers, emphasis is placed on personal skills such as very good collaborative skills and excellent communication and analytical skills
