Department
At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 140 employees. In addition, we have around 80 research students.

This position is located in the Global and Sexual Health Research (GloSH) research group. The group consists of approx. 30 researchers. Our vision is to contribute to improved health in particular in poor-resource contexts and in vulnerable populations, and in particular in the fields of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), norms and values, risk behaviours, health communication, health systems research and infections such as HIV, Ebola and Zika. Much of our work is performed in southern and eastern Africa, and south east Asia but we also work with key populations in Sweden such as migrants, people who inject drugs and sexual minorities.


Duties
The job includes two roles, 1) to support the research group leader but also the entire research group, including doctoral students, postdocs and international visitors with administrative support and 2) administrative tasks related to the elective course in Global Health held at the department.

Role 1) Support the research group leader with several duties but also the whole group of researchers including PhD students. The tasks vary from everyday administrative duties to more advanced research-related tasks, such as commenting on the coherence on grant applications and scientific papers. Other examples of duties are calls and organisation of meetings and other events; prepare presentations in cooperation with researchers; assist with the group website and cooperate with departmental administration to publish the content; help with regular social media updates, grant writing and updates, language reviews,

Administrative tasks could include help scan documents, register travel bills and expenses in the KI web system, help with logistics for international visitors, assist with ethical clearance applications and  manuscript submission help with scheduling fieldwork/data collection, archiving. We would also like you to attend research group meetings and seminars on global health to get informed about the topics we work with and to get inspired.

Role 2) Administrative role within the interprofessional, electivecourse in Global Health. The course is five weeks long, given once per semester and is open to all undergraduate programs at KI. Two weeks of the course take place in a low-income country. The work includes standard course assistant tasks such as contacts with students and lecturers, preparation of schedule, preparation for lectures and seminars, collection and dissemination of information and documentation through the online student portal Canvas and email, updating material, analysis and compilation of course evaluations, planning and coordinating the travels accompanying teachers to the countries where the students do the second half of the course, and if necessary contact with partner universities abroad.

In consultation with the course management, the tasks may also include teaching basic knowledge in global health in the form of lectures and seminars as well as preparation of course material. Participation in future planning and further development of the courses is also included. There is also a possibility to accompany the students to and African or Asian country, in consultation with the course management.

Qualifications
Education or extensive experience in office administration, writing or global/public health is an advantage, we are looking for someone who understands and is interested in our research topic and who is a positive, independent and flexible team-worker. You need to be a service-minded person who enjoys meeting new people from different cultures and countries.

Previous experience from working in a university administration environment similar to those described above, is a big advantage, as well as experience in project management, meeting and calendar management, data management, budgeting, and academic proofreading. The applicant needs to have excellent skills in English as well as good knowledge in Swedish. 

Experience from international work is also an advantage.
