The Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology is looking for a professor with great research experience in the field of medical radiology. The employment is based at KI Campus Flemingsberg.

Your mission

The employment is focused on research.

In your role as a professor at the Unit of Radiology, you lead the academic work. In addition to the formal eligibility requirement, we attach great importance on documented scientific independence and administrative, leadership and cooperative ability. The position includes supervising doctoral students and participating in teaching at both postgraduate and undergraduate level within the subject area. The position includes the main responsibility for basic education in medical radiology for the medical program at Karolinska Institutet.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as Professor the applicant must have demonstrated both research and teaching expertise, as well as management, development and collaborative skills and clinical expertise (See the instructions regarding the Appointment Procedure for Teachers at Karolinska Institutet).

The position will be combined with a position as a specialist in radiology at the Medical Unit for Radiology, Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge and therefore the candidate must have a MD with specialist competence in medical radiology, or corresponding competence, as well as fulfill the National Board of Health and Welfare’s requirements for practicing medicine in Sweden.

The clinical duty requires language skills in a Scandinavian language.

Bases of assessment 

The Professorship focus is on research. The assessment will weight qualifications as follows: research expertise (3), educational expertise (2), leadership, development and collaboration expertise (2), and clinical expertise (1).

Proven ability to develop and maintain both national and international networks is important.

Research within the abdominal and thoracic area is meriting.

The appointee must have undergone 10 weeks (or equivalent competence) of higher education training in teaching in accordance with the Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions recommendations for qualification as a higher education teacher or having otherwise obtained equivalent knowledge. If the person appointed for the position is lacking such education at the time of the employment, the appointee must undergo such education during the first two years of employment.

After an overall assessment of the expertise and merits of the candidates, Karolinska Institutet will judge which of the candidates that have the best potential to contribute to a positive development of the activities at KI.
