Division

The National Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention of Mental Ill-Health (NASP) is located at the Karolinska Institutet Solna Campus. Since 1993 NASP has been Stockholm County Council’s advisor on suicide research and prevention against mental ill health. Additionally NASP is a WHO collaboration centre that works together with the European WHO offices in Copenhagen and Geneva on outlining suicide prevention strategies globally.

Project, NEVERMIND

This opening is for an administrative project assistant position working with the NEVERMIND project. NEurobehavioural predictiVE and peRsonalised Modelling of depressive symptoms duriNg primary somatic Diseases with ICT-enabled self-management procedures (NEVERMIND) has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme and is designed to use technology to empower people who suffer from symptoms of depression related to serious somatic diseases like cancer. The goal is to place the patients at the centre of their mental healthcare through use of a smartphone app and lightweight sensitized shirt that collects data about their mental and physical health and gives them effective feedback. Based on the personalized data collected, suggestions will be made to the patient encouraging them to alter activities or lifestyle to reduce the occurrence and severity of depressive symptoms. The final aim of this project is to bring this system to the market, giving people the tools to control their depression and improve their quality of life.

Duties

The tasks of the administrative project assistant include writing reports in English on the progress of the on-going NEVERMIND project to the research Consortium, maintaining good communication with partners, assisting in project management and other administrative tasks.

Entry requirements

The ideal candidate has a BA in Public (Mental) Health, Biology, or related field. Previous experience in assisting in the project management of research projects will be considered an asset. Experience and competence in the field of suicide prevention will be highly valued. Competence in statistics and data management is also an important skill that will be considered.

The applicant will be part of a dynamic international research team and should be driven, self-motivated, take initiative, have good communication and problem solving skills and have excellent organisational skills. The applicant must be able to work as part of an inter-disciplinary team and be able to work according to the deadlines of the International Consortium. The applicant must be fluent in English and have advanced writing skills in English. The applicant should be familiar with using Microsoft Office applications, Excel, Powerpoint and Word.
