Department
At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 140 employees. In addition, we have around 80 research students.

This position is located in the Global and Sexual Health Research (GloSH) research group. The group consists of approx. 30 researchers. Our vision is to contribute to improved health in particular in poor-resource contexts and in vulnerable populations, and in particular in the fields of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), norms and values, risk behaviours, health communication, health systems research and infections such as HIV, Ebola and Zika. Much of our work is performed in southern and eastern Africa, and south east Asia but we also work with key populations in Sweden such as migrants, people who inject drugs and sexual minorities.

Duties
The main duty is to support the research group leader with several duties but also the whole group of researchers including PhD students. The tasks vary from everyday administrative duties to more advanced research-related tasks, such as commenting on the coherence on grant applications and scientific papers and researching funding opportunities. Other examples of duties are: format and edit language of grants and publications (in English); assist with ethical clearance applications and manuscript submission; schedule fieldwork/data collection and archiving in Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN); prepare presentations in cooperation with researchers; manage the group website and cooperate with departmental administration to publish the content; post regular social media updates.

Administrative tasks include: calls and organisation of meetings and other events; analyse course evaluations; register travel bills and expenses in the KI web system; and coordinate logistics for international visitors. We would also like you to attend research group meetings and seminars on global health to be informed and inspired about the topics we work with.

Entry requirements
Education or extensive experience in office administration, writing or global/public health is an advantage. We are looking for someone who understands and is interested in our research topic and who is a positive, flexible team-worker. You need to be a service-minded person who enjoys meeting new people from different cultures and countries.

Previous experience from working in a university administration environment with duties similar to those described above, is a big advantage, as well as experience in project management, meeting and calendar management, data management, budgeting, and academic proofreading. The applicant needs to have very good writing skills and excellent skills in English as well as good knowledge in Swedish. Experience from international work is also an advantage.

Application process
The application is to be submitted thorough the Varbi recruitment system.

At Karolinska Institutet a 6-month trial period is required for all permanent appointments.
