Department
At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 150 employees. In addition, we have around 80 research students. This position is located in the Global Health, HIV/AIDS and sexual and reproductive health research group with approximately 30 affiliated researchers but many work from abroad.

Duties
1. The applicant will be responsible for the implementation of research projects on sexual and reproductive health in Sweden and, possibly also in Africa and Asia.
2. The responsibilities include project coordination, project reporting, advanced analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, scientific paper writing and frequent communication in speech and writing with both national and international partners.
3. Other responsibilities include writing of grant applications, supervision of students at Master and Ph.D. level, teaching and possibly coordination of courses at undergraduate, Master and Ph.D. level.

The applicant is expected to independently conduct own research but also to assist in existing research projects in global health in low-and middle-income countries. Most of our research is in the area of gender, HIV/AIDS, sexual and reproductive health and rights with a focus on risk behaviors, access to prevention and care. Health systems and health economics, policy implementation and evaluation are important aspects of our work. We also do research on non-communicable diseases, mental health, gender-based violence, adolescent health, m-Health, migrant health, and development aid evaluations, cost-effectiveness of health interventions, behavioral economics and RCTs in low-and middle income settings. We collaborate with several health and demographic surveillance sites in Africa. The research coordinator will also be an important part of research group and is expected to actively participate in the work and development of the research group. The work will mostly be based at the Department of Public Health Sciences at Karolinska Institutet in Solna. Shorter or longer travel outside of Sweden primarily to Africa is expected and necessary.

Entry requirements
1. To be eligible for the position the successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Public Health, Epidemiology or Global health.
2. To be eligible for the position the successful candidate must have experience conducting, writing and publishing qualitative and quantitative research in sexual and reproductive health topics., preferably from resource-poor settings or involving key populations in high income settings.
3. Excellent English and Swedish language skills in speaking and writing is a mandatory requirement.
4. The applicant must be able to travel (shorter or longer stays) outside of Sweden primarily to Africa and Asia.
5. The applicant must have the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary research group but also to work independently to assure that the project products are delivered in time.
6. The applicant must interface well with other staff, collaborators and partners working with the project.
7. It is considered a merit if the applicant has used gender theory to inform the development, implementation and interpretation of research projects in sexual and reproductive health.
8. It is considered a merit if the applicant has conducted research on masculinities, gender-based violence in Sweden or elsewhere.
