Department 
At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 150 employees. In addition, we have around 80 PhD students. This position is located in the Epidemiology and Public Health Intervention Research (EPHIR) group led by Professor Yvonne Forsell. 

Duties

  • Data analysis and production of articles from a cluster-based randomized trial of tobacco prevention in schools
  • Design and organization of sub-studies based on the trial data
  • Participation in data collection and instrument design
  • Presentation of the study results in different contexts and for different stakeholders, both within and outside the scientific community
  • Grant applications
  • Participation in teaching and other common activities of the research group

Entry requirements
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.

Mandatory: A PhD track within Public Health or related subjects (e.g. Epidemiology, Health Economics, Social Sciences). You need broad knowledge of intervention studies in public health and documented experience of quantitative research methods in the disciplines above. You also need advanced written and spoken English and Swedish.  

Meritorious: Documented experience in teaching at university level, successful grant applications prior to employment, congress presentations of own scientific work, experience of economic evaluation of preventive interventions, experience of studies involving minors and of studies on smoking and finally experience of cooperation with local and national authorities is particularly valued.
