Division
Positron emission tomography (PET) is an imaging technique used to investigate brain function in healthy subjects and patients with neuropsychiatric diseases. PET is also applied in small animal research to investigate various disease models. The PET group at Karolinska Institutet is one of the world leaders in its research area. KI's PET group has established a small animal imaging platform including a "hybrid" PET-MRI-CT small animal camera.

The tasks consist of independently analysing microPET imaging data within neuroscience. The analyses will be performed with a specific computer program called PMOD. You will be responsible for reporting your own data. You will also help and assist with small animal research experiments.
Entry requirements
Suitable background is a master's degree in biology or other relevant field with focus on neuroscience. Experience with analysis of small animal data from microPET experiments and experience with research animals is of great importance. It is highly meritorious to have undergone radiation protection training and to have previous experience of working with ionizing radiation and to have approved training in laboratory animal science (FELASA B). You need to have good computer skills and preferably knowledge of PMOD and statistical analysis programs like SPSS and GraphPad, image editing software (GIMP) and Office package.
