Karolinska Institutet, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

The Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK) carries out both preclinical and clinical research within numerous fields. Linked to the department are approximately 450 researchers, postgraduate students, teachers and technical & administrative staff and we currently have about 150 PhD students. The department is conducting undergraduate courses for medical students, physiotherapist students, biomedicine students and biomedical laboratory students.

Division
The position is in the Clinical Genetics research group with Professor Richard Rosenquist Brandell as group leader. The group is located in the newly built research facility, Bioclinicum. The group’s research focuses on mapping molecular changes contributing to disease development in haematological malignancies and having prognostic significance for individual patients. Duties
We aim to recruit a highly motivated molecular biologist with a background in research in molecular genetics who is looking to work in the field of precision medicine and in an international environment. The research projects are focused on large-scale characterization of hematological malignancies and are translational with the possibility to link molecular data to clinical records. You will be responsible for various methods in our laboratory, to perform analysis within ongoing studies and to implement new molecular technologies and applications.

Qualifications
The applicant must have a Master’s degree in molecular biology or similar field. In addition, the following is required:

  • Documented experience in research in molecular genetics
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues as well as the ability to document work.
