The Dept. of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics, at the Karolinska Institute, Division of Biomaterials, is starting a new independent lab.
We are looking for a creative person, with an excellent track record, to join us as an independent assistant professor. We are interested in candidates that are highly motivated and that aim to establish world-leading research labs with a clear technological focus on CryoEM incorporating biological/medical research questions.
Division
The position is at the Division of Biomaterials, situated at the new, first class, facilities at the Biomedicum lab, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics at Karolinska Institutet in Solna/Stockholm, Sweden.

Duties
This position is a research position. A successful candidate is expected to build up an independent world-leading research group. Some minor teaching assignments will be included. The position comes with a significant start-up package and the funding climate in Sweden for starting researchers is currently very favorable. A person with a good track-record will have the possibility to attract considerable funding on top, with a 5 year contract and a considerable start-up package.
Eligibility requirements
We are looking for applicants with a strong post-doc background including a publication track record that supports the scientific excellence of the candidate. Due to the regulations of assistant professor positions in Sweden, Those eligible for employment should have been awarded a PhD, but no more than five years before the end of the application period.
Applicants must have a high level of proficiency in both written and spoken English. Preference should be given to those who were awarded a PhD or attained equivalent research competence no more than five years prior to the expiry of the application period.

Assessment criteria
Assessment will be based on scientific excellence. Further more the applicant must have the capability, as the principal applicant, to obtain external financing and have the potential to secure further funding within their area of research.
