Department
At the Department of Public Health Sciences we conduct research, teaching and applied work based on public health science and epidemiology. The research is aimed at analysing health determinants on the population level, and developing and evaluating preventative structural and individualised measures, including legislation and guidelines. The field also includes health economics, health systems research and implementation research. Our activities have a strongly international flavour, and the Department's researchers are scientific advisers to authorities and other decision-makers on the regional, national and international level. The Department is divided into research groups operating within the fields of global health, public health epidemiology and social medicine with a total of 140 employees. In addition, we have around 70 PhD students. This position is placed in the PRIME Health (Prevention, Intervention and Mechanisms in Public Health) research group.

Duties
The postdoctoral researcher will be involved in two projects supported by Forte with a focus on labor market position in young people, with special reference to neuropsychiatric disorders and macroeconomic changes.  Unique total population data from the rich system of Swedish registers are available for the projects, ensuring high quality scientific output.

The successful candidate will be expected to design and carry out statistical analyses as directed, prepare manuscripts for publication and present the work at scientific meetings. The successful candidate is also expected to undertake a limited amount of teaching, supervise students and establish collaborations.

The position also includes applying for grants and Fellowship awards.

Entry requirements
Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence.

Required for the position is a PhD degree in epidemiology, public health or similar as well as experience in epidemiological research. The successful applicant must be able to master basic statistical methods as applied in epidemiology, and be an independent user of statistical software (preferably SAS or STATA). Previous experience of register based research is meritorious, as well as interest in and knowledge of labour market policy and mental health. Furthermore, excellent knowledge in English including scientific writing is required.
