Karolinska Institutet, Institutionen för klinisk vetenskap, intervention och teknik

The Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC) operates mainly at The Flemingsberg Campus in connection to Karolinska University Hospital Huddinge. The Department also operates at Karolinska University Hospital in Solna and Solna Campus. There are 14 Divisions at CLINTEC. The activities include clinical research, education and development.

We work in an international and multicultural environment with undergraduates, graduate students, exchange students in the ERASMUS program, postdoctoral researchers, educators and scientists at Karolinska Institutet and organizations with a common vision of excellence in research, education and development.
CLINTEC has about 180 employees, about 200 graduate students and 400 affiliated scientists and educators.

Division
At the division of Obstetrics and Gynaecology we perform advanced research within advanced reproductive medicine. Within this subject the lab of Dr Lanner focus on early human embryo development.

Description of research group and project
A postdoctoral position in genome engineering in bovine embryos is available with Fredrik Lanner’s laboratory. The laboratory is investigating how the early human embryo develops during the first week, from fertilization to implantation in the uterine wall. We have established single cell transcriptional road-map of early human embryo development and are now initiating functional gene studies using CRISPR genome editing in the early embryo. The postdoc will initiate genome editing in bovine embryos to elucidate how lineage specification and pluripotency is controlled in the early embryo. We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic candidates with suitable background for such studies.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc. The term can be extended under special circumstances.
The candidates should hold a Ph.D. in relevant area. The candidate should have good communication skills and ability to interact effectively and work productively in a team. Fluency in English is a requirement.
(i) experience in genome edition of bovine and porcine embryos.
(ii) experience in somatic nuclear transfer.
(iii) experience in setting up bovine and porcine in vitro fertilization and embryo culture.
