The Department of Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB) is a department with a strong focus on basic science. CMB conducts research and education in cell biology, molecular biology, developmental biology, stem cell biology, cancer and infection biology.
Newly established Virus Production Core Facility
Delivering genetic information to cellular systems is the backbone of many experiments in biology. From applying a wealth of genetics tools assaying function of cells to gain- and loss-of-function experiments testing the role of a specific gene, to genome-wide shRNA screens and more recently the use of Cas9/CRISPR systems to induce specific mutations or correction of mutations in the genome, our experimental toolkit relies heavily on our ability to efficiently deliver DNA or RNA into cells.
The purpose of this facility is to provide researchers with virus for use in vitro or in vivo as well as provide scientific support for designing appropriate vectors or choosing a virus system. The core facility structure is currently planned for two members of staff, one Lab coordinator (this advertisement) and one technician to be subsequently recruited. The Lab coordinator will be physically embedded in Emma R Andersson’s laboratory (CMB, www.anderssonlab.com), and integrated with Jens Hjerling-Leffler’s laboratory (www.hjerling-leffler-lab.org, MBB).
Duties
The Lab coordinator is in charge of running the facility and reports to the directors of the core facility.
