At the Division of Rheumatology at the Department of Medicine Solna, we conduct research on diseases affecting the musculoskeletal system, inflammatory as well as non-inflammatory. The Division of Rheumatology offers good opportunities to clinical and translational research on unique patient groups from the clinic along with biomedical and experimental animal research.

Your mission

As a Research Specialist you will play a central role in the development and execution of translational studies in field of autoimmune research with a particular focus on Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) pathogenesis and treatment. You will work with Associate Professor Ioannis Parodis and his multidisciplinary team of experienced researchers and clinicians, as well as PhD students, PostDocs and research nurse to advance our understanding of SLE and contribute to the development of novel therapeutic approaches.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lab management: support the internal and external research teams on ongoing projects, coordinate lab activities, manage lab resources and supply
  • Biobanking: process and handle human biological samples (cell isolation, labeling, storage and registry) in adherence to SOPs and regulations
  • Development of project proposals, grant applications, and scientific publications
  • Plan, conduct, and analyze advanced immunological experiments using state-of-the-art techniques (single-cell RNA sequencing, proteomics, special transcriptomics and metabolomics)
  • Mentor and support students and junior researchers within the group
  • Stay up to date with the latest developments in the field and integrate new knowledge into ongoing research

Eligibility requirements

  •  PhD in Medical or Biomedical Science, Immunology or equivalent when the position starts
  • Documented experience in translational and experimental immunology research
  • Experience in handling human blood and/or tissues (cell isolation, primary cell cultures)
  • Previous experience with multiparametric flow cytometry/cell sorting, ELISA, single-cell analysis, RNA sequencing
  • Fluent oral and written communication in English, and ability to communicate in Swedish at basic level
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and references from previous work environments

It is particularly meritorious that the applicant has shown

  • Experience in autoimmune disease or cancer immunology research is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with translational research approaches.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of ten divisions and each division consists of several research groups.
