The Proteomics Biomedicum Core Facility at the Karolinska Institutet has an open full-time research assistant staff position in proteomics. The employment is limited to one year.

About us

Proteomics Biomedicum supports the biomedical research at KI and other universities using the latest generation mass spectrometry-based proteomics technologies. The facility provides service in the area of protein analysis, proteomics and systems biology with a strong focus on protein quantification, de novo sequencing, pathway analysis and single cell proteome analysis. The facility is very well equipped and operates eight Orbitrap LC-MS systems. Besides service, the facility is engaged in scientific collaborations as well as constantly renewing itself, adopting new methods of analysis. Scientific supervisor of the facility is Prof. Roman A. Zubarev.

Your mission

The position comprises primarily wet lab work, taking care of various type of proteomics projects, with strong focus on sample preparation but also including acquiring LC-MS/MS data, meticulous administration of experimental work, implementing newly emerged proteomics data analysis workflows, developing SOPs based on these workflows, as well as processing LC-MS data, performing their quantitative and statistical analysis.

Your profile

To be eligible for the position you need to have the following requirements.

Requirements:

Substantial experiences working in chemistry laboratory, basic as well as advanced instruments.

Good understanding biochemistry and molecular biology.

Ability to effectively interact with the research and technical staff within the group as well as external researchers in a team-oriented manner.

Advanced knowledge of spoken and written English.

Preferred qualifications:

Knowledge of modern mass spectrometry technologies as well as quantitative proteomics strategies.

Ability to work independently, organized and take initiative.

Excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities.

Excellent service-oriented personality as well as a high social competence.

Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
