The candidate will work in the research group of Stephan Mielke, professor of hematology and cell therapy at Karolinska Institutet and head of Karolinska’s Center for Allogeneic Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy (CAST) at the University Hospital in Huddinge. His translational group of scientists, physicians, physician-scientists and other health care professionals is looking for solutions on how to reset or enhance the immune system’s capacity to fight cancer. The group has a strong focus on cell and gene therapies, such as the use of reprogrammed T cells (CAR T cells or TCR-engineered T cells) and allogenic stem cell transplantation to recognize and kill cancer cells.
Your primary mission will be to support, coordinate and facilitate the group members’ research projects. In addition, you will have organizational and administrative tasks, such as keeping track of day-to-day routines, including administration associated with chemical and biological work, providing a financial overview of the group, introduction of new members into the team and organization of meetings. Performing and teaching laboratory work to students is also included in the position. The pursuit of independent projects will however be encouraged as well.
The applicant must have a solid background in molecular biology, biomedicine or biotechnology and immunology. A Master’s degree or equivalent is mandatory; a PhD degree is a merit. Practical lab experience is essential, especially in the areas of cell culturing, immunohistochemistry, PCR-work and Flow-cytometry. The applicant should have previous experience from work with cell- and gene therapy and/or immunology.
In addition, knowledge in the use and administration of electronic research documentation is required and experience with chemical registries (such as the Swedish KLARA system) and risk assessments is considered an advantage. Considering that many of the regulatory documents are in Swedish only, acquaintance to the Swedish language will be advantageous, but specifically fluency in oral and written English is a prerequisite for an application. Experience in translational work and communications with clinical partners is also a merit.
The successful candidate is team-oriented but can work independently as well, is well-organized, takes responsibility for their own actions and likes to work in a highly dynamic and collaborative environment with diverse tasks. We are looking for a detail oriented, energetic and creative person who fits in the interdisciplinary and multicultural setting of Karolinska Institutet.

The lab is placed in ANA Futura, providing a translational integrated research environment equipped for cutting-edge research, where the boundaries between institutions and clinics are torn down and researchers collaborate on the basis of common research profiles. The facility contains highly specialized infrastructures, such as a pre-GMP laboratory, working in close collaboration with the GMP facility Vecura at the Karolinska University Hospital. ANA Futura also hots several of KI’s core-facilities with research platforms and world-class equipment.
