A Senior Lab Manager position is available in the lab of Laura Baranello at the department of Cell and Molecular Biology at Karolinska Institutet, one of the world’s leading biomedical research institutes. The lab is located at Biomedicum, a newly opened research building with excellent infrastructure and world leading research. The lab focuses on on elucidating the mechanism of topoisomerase regulation during transcription and replication with the overall goal to develop new strategies to inhibit topoisomerase function for cancer treatment.

Your mission

  • Develop and coordinate lab procedures
  • Monitor lab safety and address potential hazards, including risk assessment and chemical inventory
  • Oversee purchase, disposal, and maintenance of laboratory equipment, reagents and chemicals
  • Supervise junior laboratory staff 
  • Support experimental work and project development
  • Support writing of research papers and teaching

Your profile

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Laboratory Manager who can collaborate, communicate and function well in a team. The candidate should have a PhD in Molecular Biology and some years of postdoctoral experience. Previous research experience in the area of DNA topology and mammalian transcription regulation will be considered a strong merit for the position. Additional desired skills: Expertise in cell culture including synchronization, drug treatments and isolation of mitotic cells, protein biochemistry, flow cytometry analysis, RNA-seq library preparation and microscopy.

As a Laboratory Manager you will work close to the group leader and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the laboratory.
