Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Are you looking for a place to develop as a researcher, deepen your knowledge, and expand your skills? We can offer you a vibrant learning environment, ample opportunity to collaborate with great researchers, and a great deal of freedom to develop your own ideas. This is where you move from supervisee to supervisor!

Your mission

The postdoctoral work will focus on cancer-related outcomes in patients with systemic sclerosis and inflammatory myositis using large population-based register data in combination with detailed clinical, genetic and serological data. Our goal is to examine the impact of clinical manifestations of disease on cancer risk, but also to identify potential new pathways in cancer etiology in inflammatory diseases. There is also ample opportunity to interact with other researchers and be involved in projects regarding other research questions.

The postdoctoral fellow will work with an international research team in an international collaboration to design and conduct research relevant to the research group’s agenda while receiving advanced training to enhance professional skills and research independence. The postdoc’s time will be devoted to data and database management, analysis, manuscript preparation and career development. The candidate will be asked to collaborate with others, including graduate students, and provide her/his expertise in other projects. There are no teaching requirements but opportunities to teach can be facilitated.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of twelve divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The postdoctoral fellow will be working within the research group Chronic Inflammatory Diseases, where there are approximately 20 researchers (doctoral students, postdocs, assistant professors, senior researchers) with different backgrounds but with common research interests, namely to study chronic inflammatory diseases using Swedish national registers and clinical data.

Associate professor Marie Holmqvist is now looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work together with her and her team on cancer in systemic sclerosis and inflammatory myopathies. She is seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral fellow with training and hands-on experience in epidemiology and biostatistics. Marie Holmqvist has a strong interest in teaching and mentoring, and has a wide network of collaborators at Karolinska Institutet and around the world.

The Chronic Inflammatory Disease research group is located at The Clinical Epidemiology Division at the Department of Medicine Solna at Karolinska Institutet where several research groups where epidemiologists and biostatisticians work closely together with clinician researchers to answer clinically relevant questions.
