We work on precision cancer medicine research in a translational setting, with the aim to assign and optimize targeted treatments for individual cancer patients. Our goal is to develop a systems biology framework to match targeted therapies and drug combinations using omics- profiling along with functional ex vivo drug testing on primary cells from cancer patients. We engage in team science with other research groups, health care, industry both nationally and internationally. This position resides in the research group of Olli Kallioniemi, Director of Science for Life Laboratory, Professor of Molecular Precision Medicine, affiliated with both the Dept. Oncology and Pathology, Karolinska Institutet and the Science for Life Laboratory.

Your mission

This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a leading research environment for functional precision systems medicine research. The responsibilities include primary cell model and conventional cell line culture linked to high throughput drug re-purpose testing in addition to general lab management such as maintenance and ordering. The tasks also include experimentation with classical molecular biology technologies, maintenance of cell culture areas and preparation of DNA/RNA/protein samples from tissue, cells, and blood for -omics analyses. The applicant will also be expected to perform basic data analysis and enter the data to research databases, regularly present and communicate the scientific results both in written and oral format, as well as help in teaching of common laboratory techniques to group members.

Your profile

The successful applicant has an MSc or previous relevant experience in academia or industry in a suitable field such as biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, medical biotechnology. Hands-on experience in tissue and cell culture techniques is required, including experience in primary cell cultures. Applicants with experience in high-throughput screening techniques, 3D cell culture technologies, and high-content microscopic imaging will be prioritized. The applicant should be fluent in English and proficiency in written/spoken Swedish is valued, and be able to utilize standard computer programs. The candidate should be self-driven and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be service-minded and enjoy working with others. The individual should also be organized, responsible, demonstrate good research practices and willing to learn new techniques.
