Karolinska Institutet,

Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

We offer an interdisciplinary and internationally competitive environment to conduct research in neuroimaging in aging and neurodegenerative diseases. We combine imaging analyses, statistical tools, machine learning algorithms, biofluid assays and genetics to study brain aging and the earliest signs of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. Postdoctoral fellows will have the opportunity to develop new skills, analyze large datasets, apply for grants and develop a wide network of collaborations.

Your mission
The Postdoctoral Fellow will analyze cross-sectional and longitudinal imaging data, perform advanced statistical analyses using clinical measures and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers, as well as writing manuscripts, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Joana B. Pereira. In addition, the fellow is expected to be independent, develop his or her own projects, supervise students and show an interest in approaches based on graph theory.

Your profile
The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

  • A PhD in neuroimaging, computational science, neuropsychology, physics or a related field;
  • Experience in statistical techniques, programming, and scripting;
  • Experience with structural MRI, DTI, fMRI and/or PET imaging analyses;
  • Clinical or research experience with aging and/or neurodegenerative disorders, particularly Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases;
  • Excellent academic record with scientific publications in world-class journals.

The Postdoctoral studies will be performed for 1 year, with possible extension for an additional year.

Type of Scholarship
Scholarships for postdoctoral qualification can be established for foreign researchers who place their qualifications in Sweden. The purpose of scholarships for postdoctoral qualification is to promote internationalization and contribute to research qualification after a doctorate or equivalent.
To be eligible for a postdoctoral scholarship, the person must have obtained a doctorate or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctorate. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish doctorate or higher. The scholarship amount is tax free and it is set for twelve months at a time, paid out on a six months basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
