Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Petter Brodin’s research group located at Science for Life Laboratory in Stockholm is a part of the Unit of Clinical Pediatrics, Karolinska Institutet. The group develops and applies experimental and computational research methods for systems-level analyses of human immune systems. The aim of the team is to understand immune systems’ variation in health and disease and the regulatory mechanisms underlying such variation and adaptation to environmental influences. Another important focus is the development of immune systems in early life.

Your mission

The Petter Brodin group at Science for Life Laboratory and Women’s and Children’s Health is in need for a postdoc to coordinate the clinical sample collection and metadata analyses. The successful candidate must be a physician, preferably with a specialist license in pediatrics and ideally a subspecialist license in neonatology. This is important since the project is focused on clincal data analysis and collection and coordination of sample collection at the Department of Newborn Medicine, Karolinska University Hospital. Building on recent work in our group (Olin et al, Cell 2018, Pou et al, Nature Medicine, 2019) the postdoctoral researcher will analyze immune system determinants of clinical outcomes with extreme preterm delivery, such as Necrotizing enterocolitis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia and sepsis. The project is a focused effort for 8 months with a possible extension thereafter within the Brodin lab at Science for Life Laboratory, and department of women’s and Children’s Health, KI.

Your profile

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
