At the division of clinical epidemiology at the Department of Medicine, Solna we are on the forefront of research development within clinical epidemiology. We answer research questions of interest to patients, healthcare providers and policy makers using unique real-life data from clinical practice, biobanks and administrative healthcare registers. Our research groups represent all parts of clinical medicine; from obstetrics to chronic inflammation. Your mission

For this position we are looking for a statistician who will be able to take the lead in analyzing data related to comorbidities and clinical outcomes in patients with chronic inflammatory disease and valvular heart disease. You will be requested to put up analysis plans, analyze data using SAS and R, and provide input on team-members work. You will also be asked to participate in journal clubs, seminars, and research groups meetings. Some of the tasks are related to collaboration projects between pharmaceutical companies and Karolinska Institutet. There will be opportunities for the applicant to engage in a vast range of scientific projects, depending on the applicants’ qualifications, experience, and interests.

Your profile

We are looking for a statistician with at least a master´s degree in biostatistics/statistics/epidemiology. Fluency in written and spoken English is required, while proficiency in Swedish is an advantage but not mandatory. You need to be a skilled programmer, preferably using SAS and/or R. Having a background in medicine/biology/genetics is a merit.

Our research groups are highly collaborative, with a strong emphasis on teamwork to drive our projects forward. Therefore, we are looking for candidates who value collaboration and enjoy working closely with others, with good collaboration skills.

Location

The position is located within the Department of Medicine, Solna. The department consists of ten divisions and each division consists of several research groups. The position is located within the Division of Clinical Epidemiology, in research group Johan Askling, and the work will be focused on projects about systemic sclerosis/ myositis (Team Holmqvist). The work will involve a close collaboration with research group Lars Lund (Team Bahira Shahim), with focus on heart disease.
