We seek inspiring, creative candidates that want to start their careers as independent researchers at the department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics (MBB), Karolinska Institutet.

We are one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet, focused on basic research in biomedical sciences. We have a long and proud history of ground-breaking science, particularly developing innovative methods and applying them to understand fundamental human biology and the mechanisms that cause disease.

MBB is located in the beautiful new Biomedicum research center, along with four other departments. You will join a vibrant community of more than a thousand researchers, with outstanding facilities and a wide range of talents. Biomedicum is situated close both to the Karolinska University Hospital (for clinical collaborations) and the Science for Life Laboratory, a national research infrastructure of unique technologies.

Karolinska Institutet is a creative, international and inspiring environment with wide-ranging expertise and interests and one of the world's leading medical universities. Karolinska Institutet is also a state university, which entitles you to several good benefits through our collective agreement.

This is who you are,

We seek candidates who dream big, aim high and want to solve important and fundamental biomedical problems. You should be open to new ideas and collaborations, responsive to the ideas of others, and willing to develop and test your skills in a team environment

What do we offer?

If you have an outstanding proposal, we are ready to support you with a generous startup package, including 13 MSEK unconditional research funding to cover your salary (for a six years employment as assistant professor), and any other research costs. The Department and KI will also provide support in the preparation of applications to Swedish and International grants such as European Research Council, Swedish Research Council, Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, among others.

We recognize the significance of supporting our researchers and their families. At our department, we appreciate the vital role that partners and families play in the lives of our scientists. Information about moving to Sweden can be found here https://staff.ki.se/international-staff.and here https://www.sdcn.se/

The department has broad interest and all areas of preclinical biomedical research are eligible, for exampel
