We are looking for an ambitious postdoctoral fellow with solid immunology skills to join our EU-funded project (REACT) on aging cell-mediated immunity against viral infections. We offer a stimulating environment in a rapidly moving research frontier. The successful candidate will be part of a cluster of other researchers working on similar topics.
The Buggert group conducts innovative studies on cell-mediated immunity in health, cancer, and viral diseases. These studies are translational in nature and involve the usage of cutting-edge bulk- and single-cell technologies, including high-parameter flow cytometry, gene-editing, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, TCR-seq, and proteomics analysis to dissect the heterogeneity and function of memory T cell immunity. Through these platforms, we study various aspects of human memory T cell biology with an overall aim to i) investigate the heterogeneity of circulating and resident memory T cells in human organ donors, ii) identify alternative functions of memory T cells in human tissues, and iii) understand how we can improve current immunological therapies for diseases.
The postdoctoral candidate will work with questions centered on biological aging on T cell functions against different viruses using unique human cohorts. The candidate will work in close collaboration with different members of the group to apply gene-editing technologies (e.g. CRISPR-Cas9) and single-cell technologies to mechanistically dissect how different functions of human and murine memory T cells in peripheral blood and tissues are affected by aging processes. As such, we are seeking a postdoctoral candidate with a PhD, who will work as an integrated member of our team, being involved in several projects and driving these projects forward.
To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.
To be considered for employment as a postdoctoral candidate, in addition to holding a PhD in the field of biomedicine, the candidate must have demonstrated research expertise and documented research experience in the field of mouse and human immunology during his/her doctoral thesis work.
The candidate should have received training in tissue immunology during their PhD studies and must fully master work on human and mouse models. Experience in sequencing techniques, flow cytometry, and gene-editing techniques will also be considered as merits. Applicants should have first-author publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals, and fluency in English is a requirement.
