The position will be placed in the Cancer proteomics Mass spectrometry research group headed by Professor Janne Lehtiö at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab). Karolinska Institutet is one of the four founding universities for SciLifeLab which is today national infrastructure and research center in technology driven life sciences. Lehtiö group is a translational group of scientists with a drive to improve human proteome analysis by developing new methods that can be applied to improve personalized cancer treatment. At present we seek to strengthen our research group with an outstanding scientist with proven expertise in mass spectrometry-based leukemia proteomics and proteogenomics to generate value in both research and in core facility settings. Your mission

We are looking for an outstanding researcher in the field of mass spectrometry-based chemical and thermal proteomics with a solid understanding of leukemia proteomics and research infrastructure. In addition to maintaining an independent research track within the field of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and thermal proteomics, the researcher will be responsible for applying thermal proteomics methods on variety of therapeutics and contribute to the national Proteogenomics facility, which is an integrated part of Lehtiö research group. The researcher is expected to have own research funding and have shown an outstanding track-record in acquiring external competitive funding and publications in the relevant fields.

Tasks for the position:

  • Manage projects and serve as an expert in childhood leukemia proteomics and thermal proteomics for the research groups projects
  • Maintain an independent and internationally competitive research program within childhood ALL proteomics
  • Maintain an independent and internationally competitive research program within thermal proteomics
  • Supervise postdocs, graduate students, and technical personnel in research projects on applied proteomics and cancer proteomics
  • Apply for external funding - both national and international
  • Actively participate in academic, industry and health care collaborations involving MS-based proteomics methods to improve and apply thermal proteomics methods.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for employment as a Senior Research Specialist, in addition to holding a Degree of Doctor, PhD, or having equivalent scientific expertise, the applicant must have demonstrated good level of research expertise with significant scientific production. The applicant must also have demonstrated a good scientific independence to which their own contribution has been significant and a research plan of high quality with clear potential for the future.

Qualifications

  • PhD in biology, medicine or other related relevant field.
  • Several years of postdoctoral experience in proteomics-based mass spectrometry
  • Extensive knowledge of childhood ALL proteomics.
  • Extensive knowledge of thermal proteomics.
  • Documented knowledge and practical experience of developing MS-based thermal proteomics methods.
  • Expertise in proteomics and thermal proteomics analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and collaborate with different disciplines.
  • A proven academic track record, including high-impact and highly cited senior-author or first name publications in the field of childhood ALL and thermal proteomics, leadership, and teaching record.
  • Good knowledge in English, oral and written.
