Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

Increased white adipose tissue mass is closely associated with cardiometabolic complications. Our research aims to understand how alterations in human white adipose tissue function is casually related to common disorders such as type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia and cardiovascular disease. We are in particularly interested in the role of metabolic disturbances in adipocytes and their link to inflammatory responses. Our group consists of 10-15 members (postdoctoral fellows, senior researchers and  technical staff) and has all the necessary infrastructure to conduct translational research including a fully equipped preclinical laboratory at NEO and a clinical research unit at the Karolinska University Hospital, Huddinge.

Your mission

We will recruit a research assistant (RA) to work in the group led by Professor Mikael Rydén and Dr Niklas Mejhert. The RA will work on a project related to immunometabolism and will work with human white adipose tissue/cell cultures, standard molecular biology techniques, metabolomics and bioenergetic assays (Seahorse). The project is ongoing with a number of preliminary data. The position is for 6 months but may be be extended with an additional 6 months pending the completion of the project.

Your profile

The person appointed should have an MSc degree in nutrition, medicine, biomedicine or equivalent. It is a clear strength if the applicant has some experience from translational research focusing on endocrinology, adipocyte biology and lipid metabolism. The applicant should also have competence in cell culture work and standard molecular biology techniques. Good knowledge in English, written and spoken, is a requirement. Given that we aim to have the position filled as soon as possible it is an advantage if the applicant can commit to start before summer 2021.
