The Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics conducts research in epidemiology and biostatistics across a broad range of areas within biomedical science. The department is among the largest of its type in Europe and has especially strong research profiles in psychiatric, cancer, reproductive, pediatric, pharmaco, genetic, and geriatric epidemiology, eating disorders, precision medicine, and biostatistics.

Description of the duties and tasks the position entails
Applicants for the Postdoctoral position(s) in biostatistics/bioinformatics are expected to work with statistical analyses of data and to develop statistical and bioinformatic methodologies. Areas of work include modelling of high-throughput molecular data and integrative analyses of multiple types of omics data.

The position(s) would suit applicant(s) who are interested in developing a career in the intersection of statistics, bioinformatics and biosciences. Genome-wide SNP data, next generation sequencing data (germline and tumor genomes, tumour transcriptomes) and comprehensive clinical phenotypes and detailed follow-up data are available. The successful applicant will join an interdisciplinary research team with strong collaboration with clinical departments and other national and international research groups.

Experience and knowledge that is required
Prior knowledge and research experience in a relevant quantitative field (e.g. biostatistics, bioinformatics, epidemiology or machine learning) is desirable. It is also desirable that the candidate has prior experience from large-scale data analysis of high-throughput molecular data (using, for example, R or Matlab) and/or experience from development of statistical methodologies.

Personal characteristics
The applicant should be able to work as part of a team as well as independently and be able to organize and prioritise his/her own work with minimal supervision.

Entry requirements
A person is eligible for a position as postdoctoral research fellow if he or she has obtained a PhD no more than seven years before the last date of employment as postdoc.
