The Department is organized in 10 divisions: Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Pediatric Endocrinology, Pediatric Surgery, Neuropediatrics, Pediatric Oncology, Neonatology, Reproductive Endocrinology, Neuropsychiatry (KIND), Reproductive and Perinatal Health. The divisions have separate scientific profiles and vary in size and have several research groups, dealing with both basic and clinical science.
A doctoral student is admitted to third-cycle/doctoral education. A doctoral education consists of supervised research, combined with courses and other educational activities. An individual study plan is established for each doctoral student. For a doctoral degree, the equivalent of four years of full-time doctoral education is required.

The doctoral student project and the duties of the doctoral student
A PhD position is available to study regulation of skeletal growth and maturation. The overall focus of the project is to investigate the cellular and molecular mechanisms governing skeletal growth and articular cartilage development, repair, and regeneration. The studies will employ rodent models as well as cell culture and molecular biology techniques.

Skills and personal qualities
Highly talented and motivated individuals with either an M.Sc. degree or a qualification deemed equivalent are encouraged to apply. Experience with in vivo medels, cell culture, molecular biology is required. Experience with protein chemistry is preferred but not a requirement. Previous experience of manuscript writing and publication is a plus.
The position will be based at the Center for Molecular Medicine, the Department of Women’s and Children’s Health, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm, Sweden. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to interact with and learn various scientific and technical skills from a dynamic team of researchers.
Terms and conditions
The doctoral student will be employed on a doctoral studentship maximum 4 years full-time. This position is KID-funded.
