The division immunology and allergy consist of five research groups focusing on different aspects of immunology and inflammation and is performed in an interdisciplinary setting with strong collaborations with clinical departments and other national and international research groups. The mast cell group has a specific focus on mast cell biology in health and disease, especially asthma and mastocytosis. A position is now open in Professor Gunnar Nilsson’s group to investigate mast cell heterogeneity and reactivity.

The appointed researcher will lead a project on the investigation of mast cell heterogeneity in different tissues and diseases. The researcher will be responsible to perform practical work in the laboratory, such as mast cell cultures, advanced flow cytometry, RNA sequencing, protein analyses etc., as well as supervising students. Teaching and administrative work will be a minor part of the position. 

Entry requirements
It is required for the successful candidate to have extensive practical research experience of various in vitro and/or in vivo methods to study mast cell functions. Documented knowledge in advanced flow cytometry based cell sorting and analysis is a requirement. Knowledge in RNA sequencing and bioinformatics is a strength.
Applicants need to have a strong competence in running projects independently but also having good abilities for team work and cooperation within a dynamic group of scientists with broad expertise and from different nationalities. Proven ability to write scientific articles and present results orally is required. Since the group has many international collaborations excellent communication skills in English are needed.
