The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Division
Research groups at the Division of Rheumatology are focusing on translational and clinical research for different autoimmune diseases, biological mechanisms related to this conditions and promote integration of modern research technologies in studies of human rheumatic diseases. Several groups in this Division are working with generation and analyses of “big data” with an attempt to integrate it with clinical phenotypes and with the aim to find new mechanisms for disease development, better treatment and possible measures for prevention and prediction of disease.

Duties
The candidate is expected to perform independent and collaborative research in the area of molecular genetics and bioinformatics with the focus on genetics and genomics of autoimmune diseases. Experience in broad spectrum of computational biology methods (including NGS data and spatial transcriptomics data analyses) is crucial for conducting current project. Experience is also needed in collaboration within international consortia with involvement of academic and industrial partners. The candidate will be in charge of analysis of RNA seq, DNA methylation and genotyping data and in supervising of local data management facility with integration of work flow for the projects within Division of Rheumatology.

Entry requirements
The applicant must hold a PhD or a equal qualification deemed equivalent to a doctorate as well as been experienced in molecular genetics and computational biology, including, but not limited to new generation sequencing methods, spatial transcriptomics, genome assembly, data mining and machine learning.
