Description of research group and project

Prof Ronald Li’s laboratory is focused on cell-based heart regeneration, in particular engineering of human cardiac tissues from human pluripotent stem cells to study the fundamental biological mechanisms underlying a range of heart conditions with the goal of identifying new biomarkers for these diseases. On the translational front, such human heart prototypes are being used to facilitate the discovery and development of novel drugs and therapeutics.

We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to participate in our research with focus on the biology of human pluripotent stem cell-based engineered cardiac tissues and the use of these novel cardiac engineered tissues for disease modeling. The successful applicant will join an exciting research program in collaboration with both local and international research groups.

Specific responsibilities and requirements:

  • The applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in biomedical sciences, bioengineering or a related discipline with a good publication record.
  • Those with experience in stem cell biology (especially iPSC reprogramming), cardiac sciences or tissue engineering would have an advantage.
  • Applicants should be highly motivated and good team players.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English is required.
