Karolinska Institutet, department of Biosciences and Nutrition

The Department of Biosciences and Nutrition performs research and education in several areas of medical science including bioorganic chemistry, molecular endocrinology, cancer biology, functional genomics, systems biology, epigenetics, structural biochemistry, cellular virology, and nutrition. It offers an excellent international research and working environment, including around 300 scientists, students, administrative and technical personnel. The Department resides in the new biomedical research building Neo, aimed at being a creative and open environment that enables meetings, synergies, and exploration of areas of mutual interest across disciplines.

Division
We offer a position as a Researcher in the area of ‘Protein inheritance in asymmetric cell division’ at the department of Biosciences and Nutrition, Karolinska Institutet.

The position is temporary for one year with the possibility for extension.

Duties
The successful applicant is expected to initiate and contribute in research projects especially within ‘Protein inheritance in asymmetric cell division’. The main research focus will be to develop new methodology and study mechanisms of protein inheritance in yeast cells. The successful applicant is also expected to apply for external funding as well as collaborate with national and international research groups.

Qualifications
To qualify the applicant must hold a doctor ́s degree in the field of Medicine. .The applicant must have a history of qualitative scientific production and experience of managing research activities in the field of Protein inheritance in asymmetric cell division. It is also required that the applicant has documented experience in yeast genetics and yeast cell biology, genetics, with specific emphasis on studying protein dynamics by molecular and cytological assays.


Entry requirements
A person is eligible to be appointed Researcher if he or she has been awarded a Degree of Doctor or has achieved the corresponding scientific competence, as well as documented research after publicly defending his or her doctoral thesis corresponding to qualification as Assistant professor.
