Karolinska Institutet, Swedish Toxicology Sciences Research Center

Swedish Toxicology Sciences Research Center (Swetox) is a center for interdisciplinary research and education in toxicology sciences based on a collaboration between eleven Swedish universities, i.e. University of Gothenburg, Karlstad University, Karolinska Institutet, Royal Institute of Technology, Linköping University, Lund University, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Stockholm University, Umeå University, Uppsala University and Örebro University, with its hub at Swetox Södertälje.
The vision of Swetox is “A chemical safe world”. The aim is to contribute to the development of safe chemicals, a sustainable environment and improved human health. Research Environment
The project will be carried out in the Epigenetic Toxicology team at the Swetox facilities in Södertälje with Dr. Joëlle Rüegg as principal investigator (PI). Swetox Södertälje provides a stimulating research environment and state-of-the-art equipment relevant for the project. Research at Swetox is focused on three main areas: Nanosafety, safety assessment of pharmaceuticals, and endocrine disrupting chemicals. Swetox Södertälje is also a unit at Karolinska Institutet and comprises around 50 employees. The Epigenetic Toxicology team consists of one postdoctoral fellow and one student in addition to Dr. Joëlle Rüegg. Some parts of the project will be performed at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) under the supervision of co-PI Dr. Anna Herland.
