Research assistant in molecular biology and epigenetics

The research group of Principal Researcher Rongrong Fan at the department of Biosciences and Nutrition is looking for a highly motivated research assistant. The Rongrong Fan lab locates in the south campus of Karolinska Institutet in Flemingsberg. Our main interest is studying liver and cardiometabolic disorders. We are using multi-OMICs approaches to understand how those diseases initiate and develop. We aim to better understand the molecular mechanisms and identify potential therapeutic targets.

Your mission

We are recruiting a research assistant to help us with multiple tasks, including human/animal sample collection and analysis, cell culture and several molecular biology experiments such as RNAseq, ChIPseq, etc.

This is a temporary position for six months.

Your profile

We expect the candidate to:

Have good English communication skills and is able to work in a team with other members in the group.
Have documented experience in cell and molecular biology, and is familiar with common techniques including molecular cloning, transfection/knocking down, gene expression analysis and western blot.
Be curiosity-driven, positive and interested to learn more about liver and cardiovascular diseases.
Have a recent (after 2022) Master degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biomedicine or relevant subjects

Previous publication is not required.

It will be a huge plus if the candidate:

Has worked with animal models or has experience in handling human samples in the lab.
Has documented experience in NGS library preparation, CRISPR, single cell OMICs or other more advanced molecular techniques.
Has basic bioinformatics skills and knows how to use R/Python/Linux.

Emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
