Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?

The Department of Clinical Sciences at Danderyd Hospital conducts extensive clinical research in several areas. The department is growing and consists of research nurses, biomedical analysts, senior researchers, post docs, and Ph.D students as well as administrative personnel. Each year, about 400 first level students conduct their medical education at the department.

We are searching for an ambitious postdoctoral fellow for an initial appointment of 1 year, with a possible extension for up to 1 additional year, to join the team behind the COMMUNITY (Covid-19 Immunity) study. The COMMUNITY study was initiated 2020 with the aim to investigate immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 infection and vaccination. More than 2000 employees at Danderyd Hospital are followed every few months since enrolment, and the large and extensive database has generated over 40 scientific publications to date. In close collaboration with Uppsala University, Sanquin Research, Amsterdam, Leiden University Medical Center, and National University of Singapore, we will now use machine learning to map and correlate a panel of novel and established biomarkers including antibody subclass distributions, effector functions, antibody glycoanalytics and affinity-based proteomics to continue to explore vaccine responses and correlates of protection against a broad panel of respiratory viruses.

Your mission

The postdoctoral candidate will work with the existing data set as well as ongoing data processing, with a focus on applying AI and machine learning techniques. The position will include close collaborative work within the international network, driving his/her own projects forward. The candidate will also have the opportunity to participate in CAIR-Lab projects, contributing to the development of clinical AI innovations.

Your profile

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or equivalent expertise in bioinformatics. Coding skills in R or Python are important and will be assessed through a brief coding evaluation, along with your application of basic statistical tools, during the interview. Please submit your GitHub profile (if you have one with a track record of > 1 year) for additional assessment. Previous experience in plasma proteomics, metabolomics, and mass spectrometry is a plus. Interest in immunology is a prerequisite, and knowledge of this research field is an advantage.

To be eligible for employment as a postdoctor a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. It is considered as an advantage if you have completed your doctoral degree within the last three years, if there are special reasons, your degree may have been completed earlier.

Applicants should have significant experience to be able to lead their own project and also coach/supervise other students (master, Ph.D., or assist other colleagues in the group if required); and have first-author publications in recognized peer-reviewed journals. We highly regard careful record keeping, strong collaborative skills, and creative thinking. In addition, good oral and written communication skills in English are required. We put great emphasis on the ability of the person to collaborate with the rest of the team, prioritize tasks, and help the group reach its goals.
