We are looking for a coordinator for a precision medicine and diagnostics data node. Precision medicine and diagnostics is a fast-developing field where integrated data is used to support processes to select best possible treatment for each individual patient. We are now building a data node to accelerate and spearhead the worldwide development of precision medicine and diagnostics, a process where different expertise work in teams to improve future healthcare.
SciLifeLab (www.scilifelab.se) is a hub for life science research and a collaboration between Swedish universities. SciLifeLab is assigned by the Swedish government to operate national infrastructure, to provide cutting-edge life science technologies and -expertise to Swedish researchers, and to be a top international centre for research in health- and environment sciences. SciLifeLab is also hosting the new large research programme for Data-Driven Life Sciences (DDLS).
The successful candidate will work at the Data Science Node for Precision Medicine and Diagnostics of the DDLS program, at Karolinska Institute (KI) and SciLifeLab Data Centre (DC). This DDLS node works specifically with precision medicine and diagnostics to coordinate needs for services and support, and to engage with research communities and users within the field on the national level. The employment and placement are at KI and the work is led by SciLifeLab Data Centre.
The node staff will be employed at Karolinska Institutet (KI) at the Compliance & Data Office (CDO), Research Support Office, at the KI campus in northern Stockholm where SciLifeLab’s Stockholm site also is located. The CDO offers broad support on data management, health data, clinical studies, ethics and compliance to researchers and is now, through the DDLS program, developing more specific support for precision medicine. CDO also coordinates the Research Data Office (RDO), a virtual organisation where research support staff is joined by experts from the university library, the IT department, the archive and legal department – connected to RDO is also national data support expert and structures like the Swedish National Data service.
The work is led by the SciLifeLab Data Centre (DC), the central unit within SciLifeLab with responsibility for IT- and data management issues, serving the SciLifeLab and the Data Driven Life Science (DDLS) research program. We also work with issues about FAIR data and open science, and in close collaboration with major national and international partners. Working at the Data Centre, you will be at the core of Sweden’s top infrastructure for life sciences and have the opportunity to actively shape how state-of-the-art IT and data science are integrated in Swedish precision medicine and diagnostics research and help to maximize the scientific impact of the large amount of research data generated at SciLifeLab. You will work in a team with researchers, data engineers, data stewards and system developers in a rapidly growing, dynamic and progressive team with a leading role in Swedish data driven life science.

You are also expected to communicate with and train users.
In our team, you will develop support and services to enable research projects for precision medicine and diagnostics, often in collaboration with health care partners. The datasets are often large and complex, which leads to high demands on both software and infrastructure. Solutions for meta data management and -standardization are of special importance, and integration with data from for example biobanks, clinical registries, clinical trials, large scale molecular data and other health data. Also work with processes for biobank sample may be included. As coordinator, you will work both internally within DSN and with the researchers and their collaborators using DSN.
