The Virus Production Core Facility
Delivering genetic information to cellular systems is the backbone of many experiments in biology. From applying a wealth of genetics tools assaying function of cells to gain- and loss-of-function experiments testing the role of a specific gene, to genome-wide shRNA screens and more recently the use of CRISPR systems to induce specific mutations or correction of mutations in the genome. This experimental toolkit relies heavily on our ability to efficiently deliver DNA or RNA into cells.
The purpose of our facility is to provide researchers with virus for use in vitro or in vivo as well as provide scientific support for designing appropriate vectors or choosing a virus system. The core facility structure is currently planned for two-three members of staff, one manager (this advertisement) and at least one technician to be subsequently recruited. The Facility Manager will be integrated with Jens Hjerling-Leffler’s laboratory who is the core facility scientific director.
The Facility manager reports to the scientific director of the core facility and responsibilities include:
We are looking for a highly organized and driven person with a genuine interest in virus-based gene delivery methods and virus production. You should have an interest in leading and developing people, we would like to see that your leadership style is built on transparency and responsibility, and that you like to see other people grow within the organization.
You need to be fluent in English. You need to be service minded, have a collaborative mindset and have well-developed communication skills.
We want you to have; A PhD degree (or equivalent) in relevant field, with a documented background in production of viruses for gene-delivery. You also need documented experience in working in BSL2 labs or higher.
It’s a merit if you :Have documented experience in developing/improving virus systems. Have experience from scientific projects using viral gene-delivery and if you have worked previously as a/or have experience with management or supervision
