The central scientific interest of Myriam Aouadi’s lab is to understand the interaction between the immune system and metabolism at the molecular and cellular level, with the ultimate goal of applying the developmental principles, logic, pathways, technology, and model systems to unravel human metabolic disease. We use several different approaches to study immunometabolic diseases, including next generation sequencing, gene manipulation and in vivo systems.

Your mission

We are seeking an experienced Lab manager with an extensive background in experimental laboratory work. Applicants should be familiar with experimental methods used to study metabolic diseases and immunology. In addition to the entry requirements, the candidate will be responsible for organizing the common resources in the lab, including supervising and improving lab work. You will work closely with researchers and assist in the introduction of the laboratory for new staff, guest researchers and graduate students as well as with the development and improvement of experimental methods.

Your profile

Entry requirements

  • Must hold a PhD in medical science and at least 5 years of Lab manager experience
  • Strong expertise working with mice and particularly mouse models of metabolic diseases
  • Documented experience with animal experimentation (Felasa certification)
  • Excellent in vitro laboratory skills (qPCR, westernblot, library preparation…)
  • Excellent experience working with small interfering RNA and their delivery in vivo
  • Histology, immunohistochemistry, RNAscope and confocal microscopy experience
  • Experience in isolation of macrophages from liver and adipose tissue
  • Experience in training people
  • Ability to maintain KLARA database
  • Ability to maintain good relationship with the department and animal facility as well as with external collaborators
  • Strong ability to negotiate with sales representatives
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Experience in managing booking and ordering systems, in particular Bookkit and Quartzy.
  • Administrative and management skills 
  • Experience in managing laboratory website
  • Experience in managing cell culture rooms
  • The applicant must speak and write fluent English and display excellent communication skills

Meriting

  • Documented and extensive training in mouse models of metabolic diseases
  • Experience in writing applications for ethical permits
  • Emphasis will be placed on personal qualities as responsibility, flexibility, teamwork and ability to solve problems.
