Do you want to contribute to improving human health?

The research group of Jonas Muhr is studying how stem cells are regulated in the brain and its derived tumours. One important focus of their research is to examine molecular mechanisms preventing stem cells from contributing to tumour growth. The Muhr group is addressing these questions at the protein and genome wide level as well as in orthotopic tumour models in mice.

Your mission

The successful candidate will work together with members of the research group and examine gene regulatory networks controlling the activation of tumour suppressor responses in healthy and malignant brain stem cells. Apart from xenograft transplantations into mice the work will include molecular studies of stem cells in vitro

Your profile

We are currently looking for a highly motivated person. A successful candidate for this position should have a broad knowledge base in molecular biology and stem cell biology. It is essential that the candidate has documented experienced in performing functional studies in mice. Moreover, insights into bioinformatic analyses, such as next generation sequencing data analysis and quantitative modelling would be an asset. The candidate should have a PhD in stem cell biology, neurobiology or equivalent and has typically published significant scientific articles relating to this area of research. However, we stress research expertise when assessing applicants.

Qualified to be employed as a postdoctor is the one who has obtained a doctorate or has equivalent scientific competence. Applicants who have not completed a doctorate at the end of the application period may also apply, provided that all requirements for a completed degree are met before the (intended) date of employment. This must be substantiated by the applicant's main supervisor, director or equivalent.
