Department of Medicine, Solna, Clinical Epidemiology section

The Department of Medicine, Solna, is one of the largest departments at Karolinska Institutet. The department consists of several divisions that are separated into different research groups. The core activities of the department are research, doctoral education and undergraduate education for medical and biomedical students. The research has three main profiles: allergy, cardiovascular medicine and inflammatory diseases.

Division
This post is based in the Clinical Epidemiology Unit, Department of Medicine. This work will be undertaken in collaboration with the Department of Clinical Neuroscience.

Duties
The post-holder will be responsible for undertaking analysis of epidemiological and genetic data to investigate precursors and outcomes of multiple sclerosis. The research uses a combination of cohort studies that included collection of biomarkers, as well as Swedish register data.  

Entry requirements
Experience of quantitative data analysis is essential, using packages such as Stata or SAS. Experience of analysing genetic data using appropriate software is highly desirable. Knowledge of research into chronic diseases such as multiple sclerosis and use of register data would also be of value. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant subject, but less qualified candidates may be considered if they can demonstrate the necessary skills.
